Aesculus indica, commonly known as the Indian horse chestnut, is a large, deciduous tree native to the Himalayas. Reaching heights of 20-30 meters, it features a broad, rounded canopy with palmate leaves composed of five to seven serrated leaflets. In late spring to early summer, the tree produces striking, upright panicles of white to pink flowers with yellow and red markings, which attract pollinators. These flowers are followed by smooth, leathery capsules containing shiny brown seeds, known as conkers. The Indian horse chestnut thrives in well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade, making it a majestic addition to large gardens and parks.
